READ | Staff set for another epic year of fundraising as part of Prostate United challenge

Members of Rotherham United’s staff – led by Head of Performance and Medical Stephen Gilpin – will once again be lacing up their running shoes and getting in the saddle to take on the Prostate United challenge throughout the month of November.

Millers fans will be no strangers to this fundraiser which has now grown to become an epic challenge which has captured the minds of the football world, with clubs across the country getting involved to either run or bike every single day to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

We are incredibly proud of the fact that it all started here at Rotherham United, and was created as part of Gilps’ efforts to honour his Grandad’s memory – who passed away following a battle with Prostate Cancer – and with the help of our former coach Ross Burbeary, the challenge has grown to become nationally-recognised in footballing circles.

Having originally begun with Gilps and Ross running 10km every day throughout all of the 30 days in the month of November, the challenge has now evolved in its variety, with much more manageable distances now meaning that people of all abilities can get involved – whether that be on the bike, by running, or with a combination of the two.

Clubs elsewhere in the pyramid have once again flocked to support the challenge with representatives from Middlesbrough, Leyton Orient, Sunderland and Millwall - to name just a few – already pledging their backing.

The challenges that you can take on are as follows:

Tier 1 - Run 3km / Bike 10km

Tier 2 - Run 5km / Bike 15km

Tier 3 - Run 10km / Bike 25km

By signing up to the Prostate United challenge online, you will get yourself a free t-shirt – complete with reflective markings – so that you can outwardly display your support throughout the month.

It’s completely free to get involved and you can also set up your own JustGiving page in the process, meaning that any money you do raise goes straight into the Prostate United pot, with all proceeds going towards Prostate Cancer UK.

Get ready, get set and get fundraising this November!
