READ | Duo of Random Acts for Millers fans at Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield

Rotherham United were delighted to make Saturday’s Yorkshire derby triumph over Huddersfield Town even more special for three supporters as part of our Random Act of Kindness scheme.

Together with our Community Sports Trust, we were able to hold two different ‘Random Acts’ at AESSEAL New York Stadium ahead of the weekend’s televised early kick off.

Scottish superfan meets Millers heroes

Our first Random Act saw Scottish-based Millers fan Ryan given the trip of a lifetime after his epic journey down to South Yorkshire.

Having learned of Ryan’s pilgrimage from ‘up the road’, the Millers were keen to make sure that he made the most of the journey and did so by surprising him with a Rotherham United pennant, signed by his heroes.

As if that wasn’t enough, our Head of Community Jamie Noble introduced Ryan to a number of Millers personalities including Dan Barlaser, skipper Richard Wood and Honorary Life President and former World Cup Final referee Howard Webb!

With a win in the early kick off as well, we hope Ryan had an awesome day!

Young duo welcome Millers onto hallowed turf

We’ve all dreamed of walking out onto the hallowed turf at AESSEAL New York Stadium, but not everyone is fortunate enough to make it as a professional footballer.

Whilst only a select few can lace up their boots in Rotherham United colours, we want everyone that can to experience the amazing atmosphere at our first team stadium on a home matchday.

With that in mind – and as part of our second Random Act of Kindness – we surprised two young Millers supporters who had joined us early in the Goal Zone ahead of the game with Huddersfield Town.

Millers fans Lucy and Finn had made their way down to AESSEAL New York Stadium and were enjoying the Community Sports Trust’s facilities, when they were randomly selected to be flag bearers for the day.

Just before kick-off, the young pair made their way pitchside where they were given Millers flags to wave as the two teams emerged from the tunnel prior to the Yorkshire derby, in front of a near-sell-out crowd!

We hope you really enjoyed the experience guys and thanks for helping us to rev the team up!
