With the busy Christmas period fast-approaching, Rotherham United and the Community Sports Trust have once again getting right behind a number of fundraisers taking place in the local area and beyond with a series of charitable donations.

Local sports clubs and organisations around Rotherham and the surrounding area have been gearing up to raise funds ahead of the big day and we have once again been inundated with requests asking for us to support.

The Millers – who are eternally grateful for the backing of people in the local community for our efforts both on and off the pitch – have once again been doing their bit to repay that loyalty by issuing signed shirts, footballs and match tickets over the past couple of months.

A raffle and a secret auction was held for Sheffield Hospitals Charity, with a signed football donated by Rotherham United helped to raise a total of £4,528 towards the fund.

Whether it be a local grassroots team or a school raffle – and indeed anything in-between – we are always keen to help others with Head of Community Jamie Noble delighted to see such variety in the donations made over the course of the past couple of months.

“I think as a club we do a great job in recognising just how important the relationship between ourselves and everyone in the local community is because simply put, without them, we couldn’t enjoy the success that we have in recent years,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Many of the people that are running these raffles or similar are the same individuals who support us by coming through the turnstiles on a Saturday, attending one of our soccer camps, or even just buying something from the Red and White Shop. It is only right, therefore, that we answer the call when the same people look to us for support for some great charity organisations.

“Of course, we don’t just limit our donations to our supporters. We’ve learned of some brilliant causes from people in the local area who aren’t fans of the club and we’re equally keen to get behind their efforts where we can.

“The people of Rotherham are what keeps this town ticking and in my role as Head of Community at Rotherham United, I’d like to thank everyone for their various charitable efforts throughout the year. As a club, we are incredibly proud of our supporters and learning of the many fundraising efforts which are brought to our attention further strengthens our opinion of that.”
