Rotherham United midfielder Ben Wiles has claimed the Mattress Online Man of the Match Award following last night’s Sky Bet Championship fixture with Burnley.
Wiles and the Millers enjoyed a dream start to proceedings when he headed home the opener with just under two minutes on the clock.
It was a game where Matt Taylor’s side were forced to dig deep against a talented Burnley outfit, sitting top of the table going into the clash and found themselves 2-1 ahead in the second half when Chiedozie Ogbene cancelled out Jay Rodriguez’s equaliser in the first half.
Wiles was utilised just behind Conor Washington and acted as a key link up for the side both in possession and out of it, which helped his side carry a threat all night against the league leaders, as the Millers continued to go toe-to-toe with Vincent Kompany’s team.
As with the rest of the team, Wiles left everything he had on the pitch, after the Millers were forced to play out the final 15 minutes with 10 men, as well as 10 minutes stoppage time, in which the Clarets’ pressure finally told to see the Millers go down 3-2 in the cruellest fashion.
Wiles received 33.8% of the 848 votes cast, with Grant Hall, Viktor Johansson and Chiedozie Ogbene also nominated.
