Rotherham United would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who helped support our highly successful foodbank drive, driven by our fantastic Community Sports Trust. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we have been able to donate over 500 food and hygiene items to local foodbanks across the town to help support those who desperately need our help.

Residents and businesses throughout Rotherham have been coming together to gather much needed supplies to those who need it most and as a club that always has the local community right at the centre of our thoughts, we are extremely pleased to have been able to support our three chosen charities Liberty Church, Hope Church and Swinton Lock Activity Centre.

As ever, we received a fantastic response from our supporters following an appeal prior to our Sky Bet Championship hosting of Norwich City on Saturday 5th November, with the response far exceeding our expectations.

Our Academy were also keen to get involved, with players and staff across all age groups pledging their support by donating ahead of an internal tournament which took place last Thursday, as part of our Youth Development Week celebrations. This month’s foodbank drive also saw our colleagues at Mears – who share office space right here at AESSEAL New York Stadium - pledge their backing with a similarly generous donation.

Head of Community Jamie Noble expressed his delight in the response to the foodbank drive and insisted that there are a number of initiatives planned in the coming weeks to help build on this success.

“I would like to start by saying a big thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to help those in our community that need it the most and we’ve seen another example of the people of our town coming together to help others in our community.

“We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the response to our foodbank drive, which as allowed us to donate over 500 food and hygiene items to three fantastic charities in our town, who are there to help and support so many people all year round."

Jamie Noble, Head of Community

“Our fantastic team here at RUCST – who have been instrumental in helping ensure those who need our help were cared for in our local area – are determined to do more, with a number of events planned in the coming weeks.”
