Everyone at Rotherham United has been deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former player Kenneth Gunthorpe, aged 83.
A local lad, born in Sheffield, Kenneth represented the Millers twice in a brief Football League career back in 1958.
A centre half, Kenneth’s Rotherham United debut came against Liverpool on 27th December 1958 with his second and only other appearance coming a couple of months later at Brighton if February of the following year.
It was unsurprising that Kenneth’s appearances were limited as he battled the legendary Peter Madden for the number five shirt and his time with the Millers came to an end upon the conclusion of the 1958/59 campaign.
