Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the arrival of defender Peter Kioso, who has completed the switch from Luton Town to AESSEAL New York Stadium for an undisclosed fee, subject to ratification from the EFL and FA.
The 22-year-old right-wing back has penned a three-year-deal with the Millers, having helped the Hatters reach the Sky Bet Championship Play-offs last term.
Born in Dublin to Congolese parents, Kioso came through the Academy ranks at Milton Keynes Dons before a move to non-league with Dunstable Town in pursuit of more regular first team football, with an impressive spell at Creasey Park earning him a climb up the pyramid to Hartlepool United in the National League.
Kioso enjoyed an excellent spell at Victoria Park, where he made 70 appearances and scored four goals, earning himself many admirers across the EFL, completing a money-move to Luton Town in January 2020.
He has since enjoyed a loan switch to Bolton Wanderers and a temporary return to Stadium:MK last season, during which time he locked horns with his new employers in Sky Bet League One.
Kioso turned out 19 times in total for Liam Manning’s side last season, scoring four goals in the process before a January recall by his parent club saw him back at Kenilworth Road for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.
He played on a further 15 occasions in the second tier as Nathan Jones’ men earned themselves in the end of season Play-off shakeup, where they were defeated by Huddersfield Town.
The Millers have had Kioso’s medical results returned meaning that he is able to join his teammates in training at Roundwood on Friday.
