SIGNING | Humphreys jets out to Croatia to complete Millers move

Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the signing of central defender Cameron Humphreys, following the expiration of his contract with Belgian First Division A side Zulte Waregem, subject to EFL & FA ratification and international clearance.

The former Manchester City defender has penned a three-year deal at AESSEAL New York Stadium to become Paul Warne’s sixth summer signing.

The former England U19 international graduated through City’s youth system and first made headlines when former Citizens’ boss Manuel Pellegrini handed him a starting role in a friendly fixture against Real Madrid in Melbourne.

Then 16, he lined up against a full-strength Madrid outfit, containing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

With first team opportunities at a premium at Etihad Stadium, he joined Belgian top-flight side Zulte Waregem in 2019, where he made 55 appearances in all competitions over a three-year stay, during which time he also enjoyed a spell with Dutch second tier side Excelsior.

The 6ft 2 ins centre back has been capped by England up to U19s level, making his debut for the U17s at the age of 14.

The defender will jetted out to Croatia on Tuesday morning to complete his medical and join the first team squad on their overseas training camp.

Humphreys will wear the number 24 shirt whilst with the Millers.
