OBITUARY | Dave Abrahams

Everyone at Rotherham United has been deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former player and popular local golfer Dave Abrahams.

Dave joined the Millers aged 15 and was a part of the highly-regarded youth teams of the era in the 70s, in which he played alongside would-be Millers stars such as John Breckin, Richard Finney, Mick Leng and Seamus McDonagh.

A right-back by trade, he never made a first team appearance for the club due to the incredible wealth of talent which came through at the same time, but he was a key component of the club’s Northern Intermediate League team, which enjoyed great success during that period.

Dave was a Rawmarsh lad and a fantastic all-round sportsman, who would go on to become the Captain of Roundwood Golf Club in later life, having held various positions at the club.

His loss will be felt by many at the golf club, including by our players and staff who crossed his path at our shared training base there.

We are sure that Dave’s popularity in the local area through his connections with both the football and golf clubs will mean that he is missed by many in the Rotherham area.

Rest in Peace, Dave.

Once a Miller, Always a Miller.
