Rotherham United stopper Josh Vickers landed the PA Entertainments UK Man of the Match award following an inspired performance between the sticks on Saturday.

Vickers was in superb form for the Millers at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, making a series of crucial stops, including close-range saves from Charlie Austion and Andre Gray in the first half, as well as a stunning save to deny Lyndon Dykes in the dying embers of the contest.

Michael Ihiekwe had looked to have given the Millers a place in Round Four when he struck in extra time, but Vickers was eventually beaten when Dykes’ powerful header crept over the line, despite the ‘keeper getting a hand to it.

He was also on hand to deny R’s midfielder Andre Dozzell in the proceeding penalty shootout, but the second tier side eventually prevailed in spot kicks, after another superb battling performance from Paul Warne’s side.

Vickers impressed throughout the duration of the game, capping off a fine display by earning 50.2% of the 912 votes cast, ahead of Michael Ihiekwe, Ollie Rathbone and Michael Smith.

This poll is supported by our friends at PA Entertainments and Terrace Threads.

PA Entertainments have been long-term supporters of the football club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the AESSEAL New York Stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

Supporters may be aware that we recently welcomed Terrace Threads on-board, who took up the option of sponsoring our newly-produced ‘Goal Gifs’ for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.

Following discussions between the two parties, they have collaborated to give supporters an added incentive to vote for our Twitter Man of the Match Poll, with fans who cast a vote and retweet our social media poll automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Beanie Hat from Terrace Threads.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match and the lucky winner of the Beanie Hat will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match is on Saturday afternoon when the Millers travel to Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League One.
