Rotherham United can confirm that following extensive discussions between ourselves and Wigan Athletic, an undisclosed fee has been agreed and defender Curtis Tilt has made the permanent switch to the DW Stadium, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

The 30-year-old had rejoined the Latics on loan during the summer transfer window but the Millers exercised their option to recall the player in January.

Having discussed the proposition of Tilt returning to Greater Manchester on a permanent basis, it was clear there was an appetite from all parties to strike a deal, with the two clubs agreeing terms earlier this week, with the paperwork finalised on Tuesday afternoon.

Tilt arrived in South Yorkshire from Blackpool in January 2020 for an undisclosed fee, but has struggled to hold down a starting shirt, featuring just once in a 3-1 defeat at Rochdale in March of the same year.

He has since enjoyed two loan switches to the DW Stadium.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Curtis for his efforts whilst with the club.
