READ | Matchday Information v Cheltenham Town

21 January 2022

Rotherham United are in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday 22nd January, when they welcome Cheltenham Town to AESSEAL New York Stadium for a 3pm kick off.

Ahead of the fixture with the Robins, we’d like to remind supporters of some important information…

Arrive early

We would like to once again encourage supporters who are attending this fixture to arrive in plenty of time ahead of the 3pm kick off.

Having issued a similar message prior to our recent Sky Bet League One fixtures – which yielded a more positive outcome with supporters entering the turnstiles with greater ease – we are once again asking that fans arrive at AESSEAL New York Stadium in plenty of time and familiarise themselves with the new ticket scanning process at the stadium.

Tickets

Having ironed out a number of early teething issues which were experienced following the return of supporters, we are keen to ensure that our fan base is now up-to-speed with how to gain access using both season card and matchday tickets.

For those who are not yet familiar with the new turnstile access control system, we have produced the below video tutorial, which we hope will be hopeful to supporters prior to their arrival at the stadium.

AESSEAL New York Stadium Covid protocol update

Rotherham United are reminding supporters attending games at AESSEAL New York Stadium to bring a face covering, following Government announcement regarding the new measures which have been put in place.

Face-coverings must be worn while on the concourse at AESSEAL New York Stadium, with the exception of when you are eating or drinking.

These must be worn by all supporters over the age of 11, unless medically exempt, whilst entering the stadium and whilst in the concourse areas.

Rotherham United can confirm that supporters WILL NOT be required to show a Covid vaccination passport or proof of a negative lateral flow test for this Saturday's Sky Bet League One meeting with Cheltenham Town.

Supporters continue to be encouraged to follow Government guidance and should not attend AESSEAL New York Stadium if you have any symptoms of Covid or you are required to self-isolate.

Elior UK continuing to encourage card payments on stadium concourse kiosks

As we continue to work towards speeding up food and drink services on matchdays, our catering partners at Elior UK would like to once again encourage card payments on the concourse kiosks.

While cash will still be accepted, we would again like to take this opportunity to encourage fans to use card payments, which remains the quickest and most convenient way to pay on a matchday.

Having noted feedback from supporters about queuing times and whilst continuing to work closely with Elior UK, we remain committed to achieving the best supporter experience possible at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Don Street to remain closed

We would like to remind supporters of the ongoing works on Don Street, which usually provides an access and egress route to and from the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Access to and from the stadium via Don Street has been restricted since supporters returned for the 2021/22 campaign and following recent discussions with the Council, the club can confirm that Don Street will remain closed for both vehicles and pedestrians until all road and bridge works have reached completion.

New York Way will now be the primary access and egress route for vehicular traffic while pedestrians will continue to use New York Way and the car park located the rear of Riverside House.

We would once again like to thanks supporters for their patience and understanding regarding this.

Minute's applause in tribute to Lol Morgan and Glyn Jones to take place prior to kick off

Following the postponement of Tuesday night’s game with Lincoln City, Rotherham United will now pay tribute to recently passed League Cup finalist Lol Morgan and former player Glyn Jones with a minute’s applause ahead of Saturday’s hosting of Cheltenham Town at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

As a result of the Imps clash not taking place as scheduled, the meeting with the Robins is the first opportunity to honour the lives of both Lol and Glyn, whilst we are sure many supporters will also use the tribute to remember our long-time club sponsor and friend Eric Twigg, who also passed away recently.

The match referee will assemble the two sides around the centre circle just before kick off on Saturday afternoon, with fans of both clubs encouraged to join us in a period of applause to celebrate the lives and achievements of Lol and Glyn with Rotherham United.

GoalZone open

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust will once again be opening their GoalZone - which had been closed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic - for Saturday's fixture with Cheltenham Town.

The entertainment facility is free to enter to supporters who are season ticket holders or have purchased tickets for the match, with pre-match entertainment provided for kids who are arriving early for the game.

The centre is now on the ground floor of the Community offices, located on the ground floor of the Eric Twigg Foods West Stand, near the Players' Entrance.

Resident club mascot Miller Bear frequently pops in to say hello on matchdays too, so come along and check it out.

The Goal Zone is open from 1:30pm on Saturday, but children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
