Rotherham United U18s slipped to defeat against South Yorkshire neighbours Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

The Millers went into the clash off the back of three successive victories, but fell to defeat in their third meeting with Rovers this campaign.

The best chance of the first half fell Rovers’ way, when Tom Henson broke down the right-wing and fed Owen Scattergood, who forced a save from Ford.

The away side went close just before the break when McGuckin fired over the crossbar from distance.

The hosts took the lead two minutes after the break when Jack Goodman converted Tavonga Kuleya’s cross, but Rotherham would not be behind for long.

Eight minutes later, Billy Carroll pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area, to poke the ball home from close range for the leveller.

Doncaster retook the lead Alex Wolny steered the ball into the bottom corner with his first touch after coming on as a substitute.

Wolny then helped himself to his second and Rovers’ third with 15 minutes remaining when he smartly flicked the ball over Ford to seal the win.

ACADEMY XI | Ford; Greenhouse (Day 83’), Booth, Carroll, Exton; Hatton (Champion 60’), Warne, Durose, Holvey; Douglas (Clark 72’), McGuckin.

UNUSED | Burnett, Jenkinson.
