Rotherham United stopper Josh Vickers continued his phenomenal run of form by picking up another PA Entertainments UK Man of the Match award for his part in Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory over Morecambe.
The stopper was in fine form as he denied the Shrimps a way back into the contest, after Freddie Ladapo’s double had put the Millers in a commanding lead with just half an hour on the clock at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
His first stop of note came on 15 minutes, when Shane McLoughlin cut the ball back for Cole Stockton to strike on the volley, forcing Vickers into action with an acrobatic save to deny Morecambe’s leading marksman.
Then, a point-blank stop to thwart Jonah Ayunga, when O’Connor squared the ball from the right flank into the winger’s path.
On the hour mark, he was called into action again as he prevented substitute Jonathan Obika’s cross from landing on the head of Cooney, before scrambling across to deny Stockton a shooting chance and a minute later, Morecambe were thwarted again, with Vickers saving brilliantly when Obika went through one-on-one.
A special mention must go to Freddie Ladapo for his brace and all-round performance on the night, which saw the striker also nominated.
Vickers claimed 57.2% of the 1,076 votes cast on the night, with Ollie Rathbone and Ben Wiles also up for the award.

Background
This poll is supported by our friends at PA Entertainments and Terrace Threads.
PA Entertainments have been long-term supporters of the football club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the AESSEAL New York Stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.
Supporters may be aware that we recently welcomed Terrace Threads on-board, who took up the option of sponsoring our newly-produced ‘Goal Gifs’ for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.
Following discussions between the two parties, they have collaborated to give supporters an added incentive to vote for our Twitter Man of the Match Poll, with fans who cast a vote and retweet our social media poll automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Beanie Hat from Terrace Threads.
The PA Entertainments Man of the Match and the lucky winner of the Beanie Hat will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.
The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match is on Saturday, when the Millers visit Plymouth Argyle in Sky Bet League One.
