READ | Matchday Information - Wigan Athletic

18 February 2022

Sponsored by

Rotherham United are in Sky Bet League One action on Friday 18th February 2022, when they welcome Wigan Athletic to AESSEAL New York Stadium for a 7:45pm kick off.

Ahead of the fixture with Latics, we’d like to remind supporters of some important information…

Theme Game

Friday’s clash with Latics has been dedicated to supporting Children’s Mental Health Week 2022.

This year’s theme is Growing Together and the week long initiative began on 7th February, with schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK uniting to shine a spotlight on the importance of the mental health of children and young people.

Find out more here.

Arrive Early

We would like to once again encourage supporters who are attending this fixture to arrive in plenty of time ahead of the 7:45pm kick off.

Having issued a similar message prior to our Sky Bet League One fixtures – which yielded a more positive outcome with supporters entering the turnstiles with greater ease – we are once again asking that fans arrive at AESSEAL New York Stadium in plenty of time and familiarise themselves with the new ticket scanning process at the stadium.

Tickets

Having ironed out a number of early teething issues which were experienced following the return of supporters, we are keen to ensure that our fanbase is now up-to-speed with how to gain access using both season card and matchday tickets.

For those who are not yet familiar with the new turnstile access control system, we have produced the below video tutorial, which we hope will be helpful to supporters prior to their arrival at the stadium.

AEESEAL New York Stadium Covid protocol update

Rotherham United are encouraging supporters attending games at AESSEAL New York Stadium to continue to wear a face covering – although this is no longer compulsory in indoor areas following the latest change to government advice.

Rotherham United can confirm that supporters WILL NOT be required to show a Covid vaccination passport or proof of a negative lateral flow test for this Friday’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Wigan Athletic.

Supporters continue to be encouraged to follow Government guidance and should not attend AESSEAL New York Stadium if you have any symptoms of Covid or you are required to self-isolate.

Elior UK continuing to encourage card payments on stadium concourse kiosks

As we continue to work towards speeding up food and drink services on matchdays, our catering partners at Elior UK would like to once again encourage card payments on the concourse kiosks.

While cash will still be accepted, we would again like to take this opportunity to encourage fans to use card payments, which remains the quickest and most convenient way to pay on a matchday.

Having noted feedback from supporters about queuing times and whilst continuing to work closely with Elior UK, we remain committed to achieving the best supporter experience possible at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Pie Stops reopened on West Stand concourse

Our Pie Stops situated in the West Stand concourse have been reopened tonight, serving pies and soft drinks.

With a capacity crowd, the stands have been opened to try and help with queuing times.

Don Street to remain closed

We would like to remind supporters of the ongoing works on Don Street, which usually provides an access and egress route to and from the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Access to and from the stadium via Don Street has been restricted since supporters returned for the 2021/22 campaign and following recent discussions with the Council, the club can confirm that Don Street will remain closed for both vehicles and pedestrians until all road and bridge works have reached completion.

New York Way will now be the primary access and egress route for vehicular traffic while pedestrians will continue to use New York Way and the car park located the rear of Riverside House.

We would once again like to thanks supporters for their patience and understanding regarding this.

Storm Eunice

As things stand at the time of this article being published at 12pm on Friday 18th February, tonight’s game is set to go ahead as planned.

However with inclement weather forecast later today, please keep an eye on our club’s channels for any potential updates.

GoalZone open

The entertainment facility is free to enter to supporters who are season ticket holders or have purchased tickets for the match, with pre-match entertainment provided for kids who are arriving early for the game.

The centre is now on the ground floor of the Community offices, located on the ground floor of the Eric Twigg Foods West Stand, near the Players' Entrance.

Resident club mascot Miller Bear frequently pops in to say hello on matchdays too, so come along and check it out.
