Rotherham United’s ‘Millers Memory Club’ are set to gather at AESSEAL New York Stadium for their Christmas party this Friday 2nd December 2022, 1pm.

The Memory Club has had another incredibly successful year thanks to the hard work of Honorary Life President John Breckin, a number of former players - including Richard Finney and Mick Leng - and the many people that volunteer to continue driving it’s growth, in turn, providing a wonderful service to people in our community.

Since its formation the Millers Memory Club has welcomed an array of people from former players suffering with memory-related illnesses - such as the legendary Dave Watson - to staff, supporters and people in the community.

It is hosted in an informal environment – not a clinical one – in which those affected can come and enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of one of the incredible pieces of baking done by our amazing volunteers.

Laid out in the room during meetings are little Millers-related mementos - which are proven to serve as memory ‘triggers’ for those suffering with illnesses such as dementia – such as old matchday programmes and books, whilst the television in the room also shows footage of games from yesteryear.

The club has been incredibly grateful for the support which the Millers Memory Club has received across the board, but is particularly grateful to the Professional Footballers’ Association for the way in which they have backed the initiative.

Former player and current PFA employee Paul Raven has been an almost ever-present at the meetings held in the GoalZone at AESSEAL New York Stadium, whilst the club are also anticipating the attendance of the organisation’s newly-appointed Head of Brain Health Dr Adam White who works in the NDD department at the PFA for the Christmas event.

As always, the event is free to attend and the group welcomes anyone wishing to join us at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
