READ | Millers issue fan behaviour expectations reminder ahead of Sky Bet Championship return

Ahead of our eagerly-anticipated return to Sky Bet Championship action, Rotherham United would like to reaffirm our support for the campaigns being run by the EFL surrounding our ongoing commitment to ensuring that football grounds continue to provide a safe environment for everyone to enjoy the match.

The resumption of the domestic fixture calendar provides a timely opportunity to remind supporters of the behavioural expectations that we set for each and every person that steps foot inside AESSEAL New York Stadium or follows us on the road.

We have said on a number of occasions previously – and continue to remain firmly of the belief – that the actions of a small group of individuals absolutely do no represent the majority of the Rotherham United fan base, who we have always been incredibly proud to call our own.

However, a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour that occurred before the fixture schedule was paused – at the home game against Norwich City and in the South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield United - resulted in the club being thoroughly investigated and subsequently contacted by the footballing authorities to remind us of the standards which need to be upheld in respect of fan behaviour.

The correspondence included a reminder that any further incidents will result in the club being sanctioned with financial penalties or worse.

It goes without saying that as a club - and fanbase - we want to avoid facing sanctions of this nature at all costs.

We will continue to make no apologies for dealing with any offending parties in the most serious manner and will ensure that said individuals are no longer welcome to watch Rotherham United, whether that is here at AESSEAL New York Stadium or following the team away from home.

The club will continue to work closely with the authorities; South Yorkshire Police, The FA and the EFL as we strive to eradicate anti-social behaviour on the terraces entirely.

We would once again like to thank the thousands of Millers who support the team and represent the town and club badge in line with our values and look forward to welcoming you back to games as the Sky Bet Championship season restarts this weekend.
