Rotherham United’s Georgie Kelly was in great form during the Miller’s opening round tie in the Carabao Cup against Port Vale – form that earnt him his Mattress Online Man of the Match award on his competition debut.
The opening round of the competition for the Millers saw many players impress – hence the nominations for Ollie Rathbone, Scott High, and Cohen Bramall – with an honourable mention to Jamie McCart.
Kelly’s threat on goal seemed ever-present throughout the match – dominating in the air, however being unlucky not to find himself on the scoresheet by the end of the 90 after being denied by some solid saves from Vale keeper Aidan Stone.
The Irish forward won the vote for the Mattress Online Man of the Match award by a landslide, receiving 75% of the public vote, in which 1,975 votes were cast.
