Rotherham United striker Michael Smith, midfielder Dan Barlaser and defender Michael Ihiekwe were all named in the 2021/22 Sky Bet League One Team of the Season at Sunday’s EFL Awards.
The trio were all named in starting XI comprising of this term’s top performers, at the awards night, hosted at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.
Barlaser was named in the middle of the park, alongside Sheffield Wednesday playmaker Barry Bannan, with Ihiekwe joining Wigan’s Jack Whatmough and MK Dons’ Harry Darling in a back three.
Smith – who has netted 19 times and assisted a further six in the third tier this term – was selected alongside Sunderland forward Ross Stewart up top.

The Millers were the only Sky Bet League One side to have three players named in the line-up, with Wigan Athletic Manager Leam Richardson claiming the Manager of the Year gong, ahead of Millers boss Paul Warne.
Michael Smith was in contention for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Year award, but was edged out by MK Dons’ midfielder Scott Twine, with Barry Bannan also nominated for the crown.
