Rotherham United striker Michael Smith has made it a hat-trick of awards after landing the 2021/22 Player of the Year gong at the End of Season Awards Dinner.

Having already taken the Players’ Player and Community Player of the Season crowns tonight, the striker has made it a triple swoop, claiming the coveted Player of the Year crown, sponsored by Hughie Construction for the third time in succession.

The 30-year-old has always been a dependable and hard-working spearhead of the Millers’ attack and to add to his overall game, the forward has enjoyed one of the seasons of his life, netting 24 times in all competitions.

His form has not gone unnoticed in the league either, with the striker claiming the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month Award for October and January, during a fine individual campaign.

Smith – who is also up for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Year crown – received the award, sponsored by Hughie Construction, beating off competition from Ben Wiles and Chiedozie Ogbene.
