Rotherham United forward Michael Smith has landed the Community Player of the Season Award at the 2021/22 Season Dinner.

This is the first time the End of Season Dinner has been able to take place since 2019, as a result of the pandemic and Michael Smith is the first player to have received recognition this evening, by landing the Community Player of the Season, sponsored by Rotherham United Community Sports Trust.

The club has always prided itself on its commitment to our town and the work carried out in the local area is well-known throughout the community and across footballing circles.

Smith – in keeping with the rest of the team – has always said ‘yes’ to everything and gone above and beyond, whether that be to send a video message to supporters during the pandemic or throwing himself into a community visit, he’s always been there to put smiles on faces in the town.

The striker has seen off competition from last season’s winner and skipper Richard Wood, as well as popular goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson.
