Rotherham United Women are delighted to announce that we are providing 20 free family tickets for this weekend’s FA cup derby fixture against Sheffield Wednesday Ladies.
Individuals can apply for up to 4 free tickets per family for Sunday’s FA cup clash at Roundwood Pavillion.
In the run up to Rotherham hosting the UEFA Women’s Euro’s next summer, RUWFC in partnership with Rotherham United Community Sports Trust (RUCST) are eager to create a lasting footballing legacy for girls and women within the local community. RUCST’s UEFA qualified coaches are passionate about introducing young girls into the sport and developing their understanding of the game, with the long-term focus on identifying the next generation of talent to feed into RUWFC’s first team.
As part of the tournament’s legacy, RUCST and RUWFC aim to use Football to encourage more women and girls to adopt and maintain a healthier lifestyle, with several leadership opportunities developed to help women and girls grow the game.
RUCST and RUWFC are proud supporters of the ‘This Girl Can’ movement, as we are passionate about providing footballing and sporting opportunities for women of all ages, of all abilities, from all backgrounds. Rotherham United as a club are also proud to support the ‘#HerGameToo’ movement, who are striving for a positive change in sexist behaviours in general footballing culture.
RUWFC Chairman and Head of Community Jamie Noble said:
“this is the first of many events we have planned to support Women’s football in Rotherham in the run up to the Women’s Euros 2022. The women’s game is going from strength to strength, and as a football club we want to capitalise on every way we can to increase female participation in women’s football. This is a big game for the Women’s first team and we want to put as many bums on seats to keep improving the atmosphere for the players and staff. “
