Summer signing Ollie Rathbone is doing no harm in endearing himself to Millers supporters, is he?

The former Rochdale man has already become known for his tireless all-action displays in the Rotherham United engine room and it was another showing in that mould that has earned him the PA Entertainments Man of the Match award for the Sky Bet League One clash with Lincoln City on Tuesday night.

Paul Warne’s men were desperately unlucky to only come away with a share of the spoils against a well-fancied Imps side, who were kept in the game by Josh Griffiths after Michael Smith had given the visitors the lead before Lewis Fiorini levelled the scores.

Rathbone appeared to be everywhere on the pitch on the night, with his evergreen approach seeing him start and link a number of the Millers best attacking moves.

There were plenty of candidates for the Man of the Match award and narrowing it down to four wasn’t easy, but in the end, it was Dan Barlaser, Michael Smith and Chiedozie Ogbene who were nominated alongside the eventual winner Rathbone.

He collected 49.4% of the 518 votes cast following the full-time whistle to be crowned as the PA Entertainments Man of the Match against Lincoln City.

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Saturday, when the Millers travel to the University of Bolton Stadium to take on the Trotters.
