Rotherham United Academy slipped to a rare defeat at the hands of South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, with a goals in each half from Jack Raper and Owen Scattergood seeing Rovers to a 2-0 success.
The away side had the better openings in the early exchanges of the contest, but some determined defending from the youngsters kept the scores level, before Rovers eventually opened the scoring on the stroke of half time.
Will Hollings drilled down the right-wing before playing in Tavonga Kuleya, whose shot was blocked before Raper capitalised on the rebound to put the visitors ahead.
Rotherham responded well to go behind and dominated possession during the second half, but were unable to find a way through a stubborn visiting defence, before Scattergood finished clinically in the latter stages to seal the win.
