Rotherham United would like to provide supporters with some important matchday information ahead of Saturday's SOLD OUT Sky Bet League One hosting of Sunderland at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Below, is some useful information for supporters, ahead of the clash with the Black Cats.

Barrier Plan/Exit Strategy

Rotherham United would like to make both home and visiting supporters aware of the exit strategy which will be deployed following Saturday’s meeting with Sunderland.

A barrier plan – similar to those utilised during previous fixtures that have drawn big crowds – will be used following the full-time whistle in an attempt to keep home and away supporters safe as they leave AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The club have been in discussions with the construction company responsible for the ongoing works on the Goit at Don Street, who have made provisions to allow us to utilise the road as a means of leaving on-foot following Saturday’s game.

Home supporters will exit the stadium grounds via the egress points at Riverside House and the top of Don Street.

Sunderland fans will leave AESSEAL New York Stadium via New York Way.

Arrive early

Ahead of Saturday’s with Sunderland, we would like to once again encourage supporters who are attending the fixture to arrive in plenty of time ahead of the 3pm kick off.

Having issued a similar message prior to our recent home Sky Bet League One fixtures – which yielded a more positive outcome with supporters entering the turnstiles with greater ease – we are once again asking that fans arrive at AESSEAL New York Stadium in plenty of time and familiarise themselves with the new ticket scanning process at the stadium.

Tickets

We remain confident that we have now successfully ironed out a number of early teething issues which were experienced following the return of supporters alongside our access control partners and we are keen to ensure that our fan base is now up-to-speed with how to gain access using both season cards and match-day tickets.

For those who are not yet familiar with the new turnstile access control system, we have produced the below video tutorial, which we hope will be helpful to supporters prior to their arrival at the stadium.

Don Street to remain closed until December

We would like to remind supporters of the ongoing works on Don Street, which usually provides an access and egress route to and from the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Access to and from the stadium via Don Street has been restricted since supporters returned for the 2021/22 campaign and following recent discussions with the Council, the club can confirm that Don Street will remain closed for both vehicles and pedestrians until all road and bridge works have reached competition,..

New York Way will now be the primary access and egress route for vehicular traffic while pedestrians will continue to use New York Way and the car park located at the rear of Riverside House.

We would once again like to thank supporters for their patience and understanding regarding this.

Elior UK continuing to encourage card payments on stadium concourse kiosks

As we continue to work towards speeding up food and drink services on matchdays, our catering partners at Elior UK would like to once again encourage card payments on the concourse kiosks.

While cash will still be accepted, we would again like to take this opportunity to encourage fans to use card payments, which remains the quickest and most convenient way to pay on a matchday.

Having noted feedback from supporters about queuing times and whilst continuing to work closely with Elior UK, we remain committed to achieving the best supporter experience possible at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
