POST-MATCH | Warne praises Millers for hard-earned win

20 November 2021

Paul Warne praised his side for a hard-earned win on home soil against Cambridge United..

"I thought we started okay but we didn't sustain attacks.

"I've been a big fan of Cambridge anyway because I like the way they play but I thought they caused us problems counter-attacking. The two wide men of the three kept getting in pockets and every time we attacked they seemed to break and we were defending.

"We went 1-0 up with a great finish from Wilesy, but I thought we were overcomplicating the game a little bit.

"In fairness, it could have been 1-1 at half time when they hit the bar.

"Good work from Freddie got us a second goal and as strange as this is, you go in at half time you go in and think 'it's not a great scoreline' because you need that next goal. Unfortunately for us, Cambridge got it and it became a little bit edgy.

"All-in-all it was a good game for us to win.

"In fairness, if you took every chance you ever created you'd be in the Champions League so I appreciate that the lads are going to miss a few. There were good balls in and we're trying to score goals, outrun people and outwork people."
