Whilst missing three games through suspension, Matt Crooks swapped the hallowed turf for the press box at AESSEAL New York Stadium, and even though we’ll miss him on iFollow commentary, it was great to see him back out where the belongs last night.

The pitch.

Crooks was a constant goal threat throughout Tuesday's 0-0 stalemate with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road and twice went within a whisker of putting the Millers ahead.

On the stroke of half time, his deft lob looked to have given the men in all-white the lead. As it kissed the post, it looked certain to be spinning in, but Simon Sluga got across just in time to keep it out.

Then, with just under 20 minutes remaining, Crooks met Giles’ delicious cross from the left heading into the ground and agonisingly wide of the far post.

Giles also received recognition for his energetic display down the left-hand side, but was edged out by his teammate, with Crooks winning 32.9% of the 928 votes cast, compared to 32.1% for Giles, with Richard Wood and Lewis Wing also nominated.

Background:

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Saturday, when the Millers travel to face Cardiff City at Cardiff City Stadium.
