Rotherham United attacker Chiedozie Ogbene has received his first ever call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad, ahead of their international friendly double header against Andorra and Hungary.

The flying-winger could be in-line to make his international debut when Stephen Kenny’s side travel to Johan Cruyff Stadium to face Andorra in Barcelona on Thursday 3rd June.

Five days later, The Boys in Green travel to face Hungary at Szusza Ferenec Stadion, as they continue their preparations for the remaining 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ogbene, who missed the majority of the 2020/21 Sky Bet Championship campaign through an injury he sustained in October last year returned to the first-team fold in the final month of the season.

And the 24-year-old has impressed manager Stephen Kenny enough to hand him his maiden call-up to the senior ranks.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to congratulate Chieo on this fantastic news, following what has been a tough season for him as a result of his injury.
