REPORT | Grimsby Town 0 v 2 Academy

8 March 2021

Rotherham United Academy recorded their second successive victory, as goals from Jake Champion and Ciaran McGuckin saw off Grimsby Town.

The Mariners had lost just once on home soil this season, but found themselves trailing after just five minutes, when Jake Champion opened the scoring for the Millers.

The visitors were in dreamland 13 minutes before the break as they doubled their advantage, courtesy of Ciaran McGuckin’s second goal in as many games.

The half time lead laid the foundations for the young Millers as a professional performance in the second period saw them take all the points on the road.

ACADEMY XI | Ellis; Makwedza, Carroll, Exton, Smith; Salah, Scott, Warne, Champion (Greenhouse 73’); McGuckin, Greaves.

UNUSED | Burnett, Durose, Clark, Booth.
