READ | Ladapo wins second consecutive PA Entertainments Man of the Match award after scoring another stunner

After etching his name in Millers folklore with a stunning goal to secure victory at Hillsborough, Freddie Ladapo proved it was no flash in the pan last night, as he produced another memorable strike against Watford at AESSEAL New York Stadium to secure a second successive PA Entertainments Man of the Match crown.

In similar fashion to his screamer against the Owls, Ladapo broke down the left, cut inside an unleashed an unstoppable bending effort into the far corner, leaving Bachmann completely stranded in the Hornets' goal.

This was Rotherham’s first outing since the win in S6, following a Covid-19 outbreak in the first team squad and they were faced with the unenviable task of going up against a promotion-chasing Watford side with just one day’s training prior to the fixture.

The Millers though, as we’ve come to expect from a Paul Warne side, didn’t lack energy, desire or character, with a number of players coming out of the game with warranted credit for their displays in testing circumstances.

Ladapo’s goal alone would have been worth the recognition, but the forward offered his team a constant outlet, as well as putting in a tireless display to lead the line alongside strike-partner Michael Smith.

663 votes were cast between the final whistle and the polls conclusion this morning, with Freddie coming out on top with a 58.2% majority.

Skipper Richard Wood took 28.5% of the votes as he put in another all or nothing performance in a Millers shirt, in his first game in under a month, with Matt Crooks and Dan Barlaser also nominated for the award.

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be this Saturday, when the Millers face Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
