Rotherham United defender Angus MacDonald has landed his first PA Entertainments Man of the Match award for his performance in last weekend’s Sky Bet Championship clash with promotion hopefuls Reading at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
The former Barnsley and Hull City defender turned in an assured display despite his side being narrowly defeated on Saturday and, following the poll held on Twitter, was crowned as the Man of the Match with 29.3% of the vote.
Angus has made 26 appearances – in what is his first season – for the Millers and has featured regularly in the three-man defence which has been deployed by boss Paul Warne.
Fellow defender Wes Harding ran MacDonald the closest with 27.2% of the vote, whilst Matt Olosunde and Michael Smith also received nominations.
368 Millers fans in total cast their votes in this weekend’s PA Entertainments Man of the Match poll.
This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.
As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.
The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.
The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Wednesday, when the Millers make the short trip across to Hillsborough for a South Yorkshire derby against the Owls.
