Charlie Smith’s goal five minutes before the interval handed Rotherham United Academy an away victory at table-topping Scunthorpe United.
The Millers were playing their first game of 2021 and made a dream start to The New Year, by ending the hosts’ five game unbeaten run.
The visitors started strongly and struck the woodwork with just 18 minutes on the clock, before Charlie Smith rose highest to head home a corner just before the interval.
Scunthorpe started the second half well, and Jamie Moore burst forward down the right three minutes into it. He crossed the ball and it just skimmed off Harry Lewis' head.
The Millers were made to work hard for their win, as the Iron continued to press for an equaliser. Dan Gallimore went closest to restoring parity, but his goalbound effort was kept out, thanks to some heroic defending.
