Rotherham United defender Billy Jones has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The 33-year-old returns to Gresty Road, where he began his career as a youngster and made his senior debut in 2003, before going on to play over 130 games for the Railwaymen.

The experienced full back, who has been deployed in midfield on occasion in 2020/21, has turned out seven times in total for Paul Warne’s side this season in all competitions.

The former Sunderland man agreed a one-year extension with the Millers in the summer, which is set to expire at the end of the current campaign. He has turned out 41 times in Rotherham United colours since his arrival in July 2018.

Jones links up with former Miller David Artell who managed Crewe to promotion from League Two last term and currently has his side positioned in 7th place in the third tier table.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to wish Billy well during the period of his loan spell and thank him for his efforts whilst at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
