Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johnasson has been voted the PA Entertainments Man of the Match for the narrow 1-0 midweek defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The popular Swede, whose fine form between the sticks has coincided with some positive results for Paul Warne’s side in recent weeks, lands the coveted award – voted by the fans on Twitter – for a third time this season.

Johansson fended off competition from skipper Richard Wood, Ben Wiles and Clark Robertson to earn himself 35.8% of the 846 votes that were cast between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The 22-year-old remains in competition with Jamal Blackman and Josh Vickers to hold down the number 1 shirt, and will have done his chances no harm after another assured display – despite his side suffering defeat – on the South Coast.

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be this Tuesday, when the Millers travel to face Norwich City at Carrow Road.
