Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has seen off competition to clinch the PA Entertainments Man of the Match award for Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale.
As has been the case in recent votes, the team performance was of such a high standard, that narrowing the vote down to just four contenders proved a challenge in itself. However, following careful consideration, Johansson was joined by Lewis Wing, Ben Wiles and Freddie Ladapo on the shortlist.
Johansson helped preserve the Millers’ advantage with a series of important saves, including a fine flying stop to keep out Jason Molumby’s first half header. The Swede showed incredible bravery to keep out a Ched Evans effort just before the break, earning himself a battle wound in the process after an accidental collision with the North End forward.
Johansson earned 55.8% of the vote, with Lewis Wing the runner-up with 34.6%. Whilst the stopper will enjoy the accolade of Man of the Match, we are sure that supporters will agree this was another strong team performance with everyone involved enjoying huge praise.

Background:
This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.
As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.
The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.
The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be this Tuesday, when the Millers host Cardiff City at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
