Club captain Richard Wood expresses his support for Safer Internet Day by telling RUCST how important it is to keep children safe on the internet.
Today is Safer Internet Day, and this is celebrated in order to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of the Internet for children and young people.
Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness to how the internet can sometimes be harmful; and it inspires a national conversation about how to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.
Richard Wood says his two boys are “coping really well” with the transition from normal school to online school, and that he is “pleased with how well they’re getting on with their work, it is so good to see them trying their best, even though they’re not used to it”.
When we asked him how he keeps his sons safe on the internet, he said:
“I use screentime, as both of my sons have iPads and this is really useful for setting up restrictions for certain apps they can use and how long they can use them for. I also have restrictions set up for internet content under my passwords to keep them safe”.
