Everyone at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust would like to congratulate our Further Education and Higher Education students who continue to work hard at home to continue their learning and ensure the current situation doesn’t impact their course progress.

Our tutors remain in contact with all students on a daily basis as well as delivering online classes and tutorials. Since entering the current lockdown the engagement and attendance to online lessons has been outstanding across all courses.

The Sports College are using innovative methods to ensure the students can continue to engage with their learning alongside receiving the support they need both academically and emotionally. A few weeks ago, First Team player Joe Mattock joined the Shadow Academy via Zoom to discuss his experiences and pass on some important advice to the students in regards to their education and football. This week we are looking forward to the Daparian Foundation delivering a workshop to all students around mental health, resilience, dealing with internal and external scrutiny, the pressures of expectation and dealing with failure.

Education Manager, James Mahoney is delighted with the learners’ progress: “We are extremely proud of all our learners who continue to display an outstanding attitude towards their education despite the challenges that they are facing as a result of the latest lockdown. Learning from home can be difficult due to number of reasons and I commend their adaptability and perseverance. As well as the impact on lessons it is also hard for students who are missing the social interaction on a daily basis with their friends and the opportunity to train & play football. We are implementing various methods to try and help them through this period including; home fitness training programmes, guest speakers and competitions. I would also like to thank the Education staff team whose continued hard-work and commitment ensures our students can continue learning during these challenging times”.

The Sports College are also still recruiting for our wide range of courses starting in September 2021. If you are interested in pursuing a career working in the sports industry and wish to continue your education into further or higher education then check out our prospectus here: Prospectus
