READ | Viktor’s heroics see him land PA Entertainments x Terrace Threads Man of the Match Award for dramatic Port Vale win

We all love our resident Viking here at Rotherham United and last night, Viktor Johansson played a crucial role as the Millers saw off Port Vale to make it a club-record 17 games unbeaten in all competitions.

The Swede was called into action in normal time to save superbly from David Amoo in the 62nd minute before making an even better stop in injury time.

With Vale pressing for a late winner, Conlon’s strike took a wicked deflection, and was almost turned into the net in bizarre circumstances before Johansson flung across his goalline to claw the effort away.

Then came penalties.

A series of superb spot-kicks followed from the visitors, which the keeper could do very little about before his moment finally came when he held his nerve to stay down the middle and deny Amoo.

This set it up for Joe Mattock to step up and put the Millers through, with a fifth penalty out of five.

Johansson’s heroics saw him claim 52.4% of the 603 votes cast, with Kieran Sadlier, Hakeem Odoffin and Jamie Lindsay also nominated.

This poll is supported by our friends at PA Entertainments and Terrace Threads.

PA Entertainments have been long-term supporters of the football club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the AESSEAL New York Stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

Supporters may be aware that we recently welcomed Terrace Threads on-board, who took up the option of sponsoring our newly-produced ‘Goal Gifs’ for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.

Following discussions between the two parties, they have collaborated to give supporters an added incentive to vote for our Twitter Man of the Match Poll, with fans who cast a vote and retweet our social media poll automatically entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher to spend with Terrace Threads.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match and the lucky winner of the £50 Terrace Threads voucher will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match is on Tuesday, when the Millers host Stockport County in the Emirates FA Cup.
