Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are once again providing supporters with a platform to get healthy this New Year through the popular Fit Millers programme which begins again in early January 2022.

Are you aged 35-65 and want to tackle your weight? Make a change in the company of like-minded Millers this January by enrolling for a 13-week fitness journey this January as part of our Fit Millers programme – all whilst doing so at the club’s home at AESSEAL New York Stadium!

This programme is a fantastic opportunity to improve your health and fitness, whilst meeting other Millers fans and getting a once in a lifetime opportunity to see behind the scenes of the club. With monthly player visits, Fit Millers participants get a chance to meet and take photos with many different RUFC players, who attend regularly to show their support. Fit Millers participants also have regular access to free match day tickets, depending upon availability.

RUCST will be running programmes for both men and women this year which kick off on the 20th and the 17th of January respectively, and still have limited places available should you wish to sign up.

The project is derived from the EFL’s Fit Fans initiative and uses interest in football to attract adults aged 35-65 to a 13-week healthy lifestyle multi-component programme delivered by coaching staff at their local professional football club charity.

The past year of Lockdowns has been tough for us all and you won’t be the only one who has struggled with their fitness levels in the last 12 months, however, Fit Millers will bring together others in a similar situation and those looking to generally just get fitter.

The programme aims to help football fans achieve significant long-term improvements in weight loss, physical activity, diet and psychological wellbeing.

RUCST’s Health Co-ordinator Ryan Canadine explained that he is looking forward to welcoming physical groups back to AESSEAL New York Stadium and the opportunity to bring people together with a common goal of getting fitter in the New Year.

Ryan said: “It will be fantastic to see groups of both men and women back together for the latest Fit Millers programme.

“Whether you’re looking to shift a bit of lockdown weight or generally just improve your overall health and wellbeing, Fit Millers provides a comfortable and positive social environment to do just that.

“We are all here with the common goal of improving our mental and physical wellbeing and the togetherness that has come about as a result of these groups in the past has really helped individuals within them to push on and achieve their targets.

“The groups have already proven to be incredibly popular again this year and whilst we do have places left, they are limited, so if you want to join us in the New Year, make sure you get your names down at the earliest possible opportunity.

“I look forward to meeting participants new and old as we still look towards returning to a more ‘normal’ way of life.”

Places are free to and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
