The club’s Academy have now played three and won three after a similarly unblemished pre-season record, with wins in the league over Huddersfield Town and Bradford City preceding the success over Carlisle.

The youngsters' perfect start looked in danger when Carlisle took the early incentive, putting themselves ahead after just one minute of the game.

The Millers rallied though and once again got themselves level as Exton found the back of the net to make it 2-2 and set up a thrilling finale in the North West.

It was then left up to Northern Ireland U19 international McGuckin to score the fifth and final goal of the game, which would also prove to be the winner late on.
