Rotherham United will be inviting supporters to join us in honouring the lives of all of the former players and staff and supporters who have passed away since we were last together at AESSEAL New York Stadium, by joining us in a minute’s applause before kick off against Plymouth Argyle.
With numbers on funerals limited among other restrictions, properly celebrating the lives of those who have so sadly left us during the course of the last 18 months has been difficult for us all and we have shared that pain here at Rotherham United.
In total, 14 former players and staff and countless beloved supporters have left us since you were last in attendance at AESSEAL New York Stadium and we want to ensure that they are given the send-offs they deserve as we are reunited this afternoon.
John Haselden, Peter Madden, Norman Hunter, Jimmy Goodfellow, Jackie Wren, Richard Dawson, Johnny Quinn, Trevor Phillips, John McSeveney, Tommy Docherty, Malcolm Hussey, Steve Conroy, Adam Curtis and Keith Bambridge make up the list of ex-players, manager and coaches who are no longer with us.
We have been deeply saddened to receive the countless tributes for our club website’s tribute page during that time and we will all be thinking of those individuals as we join in applause prior to kick off.
On the referee's whistle, we will take a minute to remember all of the aforementioned people and their contributions to our football club, whether be on the pitch, off it, or from the stands.
Once a Miller. Always a Miller.
