Wes Harding has been a Miller for just under a year now, but Saturday was the first time he’s had the chance to play in front of the home faithful at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

And boy did he take the chance to put on a show.

Harding, playing on the right-side of a back three, shone in his position winning acclaim from the crowd, not just for performing his defensive duties impeccably, but also for offering an attacking outlet down the right flank.

His best moment came 12 minutes from time, when Argyle broke forward in numbers in search of a way back into the contest.

Pilgrims forward Ryan Hardie appeared to be through with the goal at his mercy, before Harding came in with a great recovery run and then a crunching tackle to avert the danger.

On a day where anyone on the pitch could have won the vote, Harding – or ‘super Wesley Harding’, as the Millers fans were chanting – won 65.9% of the 543 votes cast, ahead of goal scorers Freddie Ladapo and Ben Wiles, as well as skipper Richard Wood.

Background:

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be this Tuesday, when the Millers host Accrington Stanley in the Carabao Cup.
