Rotherham United winger Chiedozie Ogbene has landed the PA Entertainments Man of the Match crown following Saturday’s narrow defeat to Wigan Athletic at DW Stadium.
After dominating for large periods of the encounter against the Latics, the Millers were hit with the cruellest of late blows as Will Keane met Max Power’s cross to steal all three points with the last kick.
Despite the defeat, a number of Millers players came away from the game with credit, but there was one player who shone brightest on a rainy afternoon in Greater Manchester.
After missing the majority of the previous campaign through injury, Chieo now has a full pre-season under his belt, and looks back to his electrifying best judging by his early season displays.
Wigan’s defenders simply could not live with the flying-winger who was the main source of chances for the team, and, had lady luck been smiling on the Millers, he may well have produced a match-winning moment.
Chieo claimed the prize with 64.2% of the 508 votes cast, ahead of fellow nominees Wes Harding, Richard Wood and Wes Harding.

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.
As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.
The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.
The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Tuesday, when the Millers face Morecambe at Mazuma Stadium.
