Vikings have always been famed for their courage. Be it bravery in battle or fearlessness in their approach, last night, Viktor Johansson, epitomised all of these qualities against Coventry City at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Called into action in the first minute, the Swede made a stunning stop to claw away Liam Kelly’s dipping volley.

Better was to come.

10 minutes later, Kelly tried his luck again. This time, it fell to feet of Callum O’Hare. But the Viking was big, he was brave and got down to save before Matt Godden fired over on the rebound.

With 10 minutes to go until the break, Tyler Walker looked certain to score when he pounced on a loose ball at the far post. Showing great reactions and agility, Johansson was there again to deny the striker.

Johansson’s stand-out display earned him recognition from supporters, with 82.2% of the 987 votes cast, with Richard Wood, Lewis Wing and Angus MacDonald also nominated for the award.

This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.

As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.

The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.

The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Sunday, when the Millers face Birmingham City at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
