In his first start since September, Chieo showed signs he’s nearing his electric best in Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby.
Having been kept out for most of the campaign with an injury he sustained in October, Ogbene put in a Man of the Match display against Barnsley at Oakwell.
The lightning quick winger was a constant thorn in the side of the Tykes’ backline, not least so when he surged into the box beyond Sollbauer, where he could have gone down for a penalty following a challenge from the Austrian.
Instead, he stayed on his feet and was unfortunate not to see his honesty rewarded, as Collins saved at the near post.
Deployed in a slightly more free role off the attacking unit, the 23-year-old seemed to revel in the chance to seize on the ball in attacking areas, with a goal the only thing missing from such a polished display.
His performance did not go unnoticed by the Rotherham faithful, with Chieo earning 58.3% of the 597 votes cast, which saw him claim the crown over fellow nominees Lewis Wing, Angus MacDonald and Michael Smith.
This poll is supported by PA Entertainments who have been long-term supporters of the club and were hailed for their recent work which involved them lighting up the stadium in the colours of the NHS and more recently, with the image of a poppy for Armistice Day.
As part of the agreement, the club’s official Twitter account @OfficialRUFC will post an online poll after each Millers fixture allowing supporters to pick out their Man of the Match from the shortlist.
The PA Entertainments Man of the Match will be revealed on a Monday morning following a Saturday fixture or midday on the day after a midweek fixture.
The next opportunity for supporters to pick their Man of the Match will be on Tuesday, when the Millers face Brentford at Brentford Community Stadium.
