The Mature Millers Walking Football Association are delighted to have received £5000 from South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation to allow them to support current and new older adults in getting active and reducing social isolation.
The Mature Millers Walking Football Association will use the money to meet twice per week for a game of walking football followed by the chance for a coffee and a good catch up. The sessions are open to those aged 50+ and are a great way to continue your love of the beautiful game.
Whilst the game is a little slower than regular football, don’t be fooled by the term ‘walking football’.
The players still get quite a sweat on and it’s certainly a chance for your team spirit and competitive side to shine through. With separate sessions for males and females the project will give the opportunity for people to continue playing football, return to the game, or even give it a go for the first time.
