Rotherham United manager Paul Warne says he’s proud of his team’s display after the Millers fell to defeat against Millwall at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
Jed Wallace’s strike five minutes after half time gave the Lions victory, despite the home side creating the majority of the opportunities.
Despite the loss, the boss still believes there were positives to take from the game.
“I’m really proud of the lads and if we continue at those levels we’ll enjoy our season. I thought the lads gave us everything they could to go out and get us an equalising goal and it gives me great hope that we can have an exciting season,” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk.
“We put no end of crosses into their box which they defended well and probably didn’t get that cutting-edge chance in the second half to get something out of the game, which I think we deserved.
“Their goal was an unfortunate error, I thought it was two good teams out there and I was really pleased with how we played.
“Chieo (Chiedozie Ogbene) and Wes (Harding) were excellent down the right side and caused them problems. On another day we’d have won the game but to come away with nothing feels a bit harsh, but in this league one goal can often win it.”
