Rotherham United forward Jamie Proctor has joined Newport County on loan until January 2021, subject to EFL and FA ratification and international clearance.

The Millers frontman has completed a temporary switch to Rodney Parade after the necessary documentation was completed prior to the 5pm transfer deadline on Friday.

The 28-year-old hasn’t featured for Paul Warne’s Millers in 2020/21 but has a comprehensive pre-season programme under his belt and departs for the League Two outfit in search of more regular game time.

Following confirmation of the deal being completed, Warne praised the attitude of his outgoing striker whilst adding that the move is beneficial to both parties.

“Procs needs to go and play games and that’s hopefully something he can do at Newport,” he explained.

“I tell the lads all of the time that going out on loan definitely does not mean that their career here is over and Icky's [Michael Ihiekwe] switch to Accrington is a great example of that.

“If Procs can go and rekindle his form of old with Newport, there is no reason that he can’t come back here in the New Year and challenge for a place.

“He has always upheld the high standards we have in training and I know he will be a great addition to Newport’s squad during his loan there.”

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to wish Jamie well in his spell with Newport County.
