Rotherham United Academy staged a dramatic late fight back to claim victory over Doncaster Rovers in the Youth Alliance League.

The young guns found themselves 2-1 down with just 20 minutes remaining before Charlie Smith equalised for the home side.

With both sides pushing for a late winner, it was the Millers who found it when Jerome Greaves converted an 81st minute penalty, to help his earn the South Yorkshire derby spoils.

The Academy started the game brightly and took the lead through Curtis Durose after three minutes, but Rovers responded with two goals of their own through Ethan Bojang and Alek Wolny to lead at the break.

Richard Hairyes’ side continued to press in the second half and got their reward in the 70th minute through defender Smith, who restored parity on home soil.

Both teams went searching for the crucial third goal and the home side were given the opportunity to take all three points from the penalty spot. Jerome Greaves stepped up to dispatch the spot-kick and secure the points on derby day.
