The Mature Millers Walking Football team have returned from another fun filled tournament in Portugal.
The trip is seeing an increase in interest each year, with 21 players heading out this time allowing an A and B team to compete in a great local Portuguese tournament against 5 other teams.
The hosts Olhao won the overall event winning all their games except against our Mature Millers A team where we managed to draw both times 1-1.
The Mature Millers achieved an overall creditable 3rd place for the A team and a spirited 6th place for the B “social” team.
Some of the players even joined the Olhao team for their usual Tuesday training session.
Team member Chris Baker said 'the camaraderie this trip engenders is fantastic both internally and with our hosts, now with an average age of over 60 from Rotherham enjoying the sun, sport and friendships this event continues to generate. Next year we expect even more than the 21 booked this year as it has grown like topsy now for 3 years. No injuries, except for a few sore heads most mornings and a great time had by all.'
